Oprah's half-sister 'has Obama's birth certificate' Rush Limbaugh clowns about Winfrey's family secret

PALM BEACH, Fla. – Radio giant Rush Limbaugh clowned about Oprah Winfrey's family secret today, tying it to the issue of Barack Obama's presidential eligibility.

"Oprah Winfrey has been leading up to the announcement of this giant secret that she's going to reveal," said Limbaugh. "She's revealed it. Have you heard what it is? She has a half-sister. The half-sister has Obama's birth certificate."

Oprah recently became aware she has a half-sister, a Milwaukee woman she identified today as "Patricia" who was put up for adoption by Winfrey's mother nearly 50 years ago.

The discovery is "the miracle of all miracles," Winfrey told her audience.

Today Limbaugh also noted that House Republican Whip Eric Cantor stated yesterday on NBC's "Meet the Press" that Cantor thought Barack Obama was a citizen of the United States, though no mention was made of his "natural-born citizenship," which is required by the Constitution to be eligible for president.

Limbaugh joked, "When are the Democrats gonna reciprocate regarding such reaching across the aisle as Cantor did here, and admit that Sarah Palin is indeed a human being?"

On Friday, Limbaugh opened his top-rated program by asking why Hawaii Gov. Neil Abercrombie appears to have no support from the White House in his publicized quest to resolve the growing doubt about Obama's eligibility for the Oval Office.

"Where's Obama? Where's the White House? Is this guy flying alone? Neil Abercrombie on his own on this? So much of this is difficult to fathom, to believe," the king of talk radio said.

Limbaugh noted WND's story Wednesday that led to established media such as the Daily Mail of London declaring in a headline: "Hawaii governor claims record of Obama's birth 'exists in archives' but cannot produce the vital document."

"The story originated at WorldNetDaily in this country earlier, and of course if it originates anywhere outside the mainstream press, the mainstream press will not acknowledge it," Limbaugh told his listeners.

Promises of Obama birth hospital trip vanish Authors admit no one given tour of president's 'birthplace' in Hawaii

The authors of a highly touted and well-endorsed progressive book promoting Barack Obama apparently have reneged on promises of a contest prize that was intended to send the winner to Hawaii for a tour of the hospital where Obama reportedly was born.

Denver talk show leader Peter Boyles

More than a year ago, Michael Huttner, author along with Jason Salzman of "50 Ways You Can Help Obama Change America," told Denver's KHOW radio talk show host Peter Boyles that the reader who came up with the best story on how they had helped Obama change America would be given a prize.

But, apparently, no contest winner was named or rewarded.

Huttner originally had told Boyles of the prize plans as part of his efforts to promote his book, published as a paperback on Sept. 1, 2009.

"Huttner and Salzman got a lot of press in Denver and nationally when they published this book and announced their contest, but now … it's turned out to be a big scam," Boyles told WND. "Today, Progress Now doesn't want to admit they even know Huttner or Salzman. This is an embarrassment to Progress Now and it should be an embarrassment to President Obama."

WND could not locate either Huttner or Salzman for comment.

On Monday, Boyles reported on air that Salzman called him at home and acknowledged that no contest winner had been selected, no winner had been sent to Hawaii this month as promised, no visit had been paid to Kapi'olani Medical Center to discredit "birthers" and no community service had been performed in Hawaii to commemorate the 2011 Martin Luther King holiday weekend.

In an interview on KHOW with Boyles when the book was first published, Huttner explained that he had created a website "50WaysYouCanHelpObama.com" to invite people to submit examples of ways they had helped Obama "change America" in their local communities since Obama was first elected president in November 2008.

On air when the book was published, Huttner explained to Boyles and his radio audience that his goal in having the book contest winner visit Kapi'olani Medical Center was "to dismiss this whole 'birther' theory as ridiculous, even though they keep raising it."

In that radio interview, Huttner told Boyles that the contest winner, to be selected by website users, would get a round trip to Hawaii on the Martin Luther King holiday weekend in January 2011, a private tour of Kapi'olani Medical Center, the hospital where Obama was supposedly born, and participate in a local community service event in commemoration of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

In the same interview, Huttner also told Boyles that he had formed in the back room of his Denver law office an organization designed to support Obama, named "Progress Now," that he headed as CEO.

At the time the book was published, Huttner claimed Progress Now had grown to operate in 12 states, with a claimed membership of 2 million.

Huttner is currently not credited on the ProgressNow.org website as being a founder of the organization, nor is he listed on the website as being a current officer or member of the board.

Ellen Dumm, the executive director of the Campaign for a Strong Colorado, currently is serving as spokeswoman for Progress Now Colorado and told WND she knows nothing about Huttner or Salzman.

"They [Huttner and Salzman] haven't been with the organization for some time," Dumm said, promising to assist WND in tracking down a phone number for the authors.

"I think it is a clear instance of fraud," Boyles told WND, "and I suspect some laws were broken in advertising and conducting a contest to promote a book, creating a website to invite contest entries and contest voting, and then never delivering on the contest prize as promised."

Colorado attorney Chuck Bonniwell told WND that Huttner and Salzman might have violated Colorado laws by holding a contest and not awarding a prize.

"The Colorado Consumer Protection Act is generally intended to prevent deceptive trade practices," said Bonniwell. "Advertising that a consumer will be awarded a 24" flat-screen color TV and the customer ends up being awarded a smaller, inferior TV may be interpreted as a deceptive trade practice. So too might be holding a contest and not awarding a prize."

Bonniwell told WND that consumer protection acts vary by state. "Under Colorado's law, a consumer could bring civil actions for damages and attorneys fees," he said, "or the attorney general of the state or the district attorney of any county in which a deceptive transaction occurred could bring civil actions for larger sums of money and possibly be awarded damages."

On the book's Amazon.com listing, Huttner and Salzman received endorsements for "50 Ways You Can Help Obama Change America" from a long list of prominent Democrats and progressives, including a blurb from the late-Senator Edward M. Kennedy, from Arianna Huffington – founder of HuffingtonPost.com, Markos Moulitsas ZĂșnga – founder of DailyKos.com, CNN political Analyst Paul Bagala, and former DNC head Howard Dean.

Scott Jordan, the head of Polipoint Press, the publisher of "50 Ways You Can Help Obama Change America," told WND the book sold somewhere between 4,000-5,000 copies, a sales threshold that is typically considered marginally profitable in the publishing industry even for specialty publishing houses such a Polipoint, a press that specializes in publishing progressive titles.

"We thought the book was going to be hot back in 2009, when Obama seemed like he was walking on water," Jordan told WND. "It turned out Obama was less hot than we thought."

Huttner's co-author, Salzman, published an anti-Bush book in 2004, with co-author Ben Cohen, one of the founders of Ben and Jerry's Ice Cream, titled "50 Ways You Can Show George the Door in 2004."

According to HuffingtonPost.com, Salzman is a former media critic for Rocky Mountain News, until it ceased operations in 2009.

Bonniwell has filled in for Peter Boyles as a KHOW guest host when Boyles has been absent from the show.

Cheney: Obama has learned that Bush policies were right

President Obama has “learned from experience” that some of the Bush administration’s decisions on terrorism issues were necessary, according to former Vice President Dick Cheney.

In his first interview since undergoing major heart surgery last July, Cheney said he thinks Obama has been forced to rethink some of his national security positions now that he sits in the Oval Office.

"I think he's learned that what we did was far more appropriate than he ever gave us credit for while he was a candidate. So I think he's learned from experience. And part of that experience was the Democrats having a terrible showing last election."

Cheney also asserted that Obama has learned that the prison at Guantanamo Bay simply cannot be closed, despite the promises he made while campaigning for the White House.

"I think he's learned that he's not going to be able to close Guantanamo," Cheney said. "That it's — if you didn't have it, you'd have to create one like that. You've got to have some place to put terrorists who are combatants who are bound and determined to try to kill Americans."

Cheney made the comments about Obama in an interview that is set to air Tuesday on NBC’s “Today.” The interview was Cheney's first since before he underwent heart surgery in July. Doctors introduced a device into his heart that pumps blood from the ventricle chamber to his aorta.

The former vice president cited the Obama administration’s expanded use of drones in Pakistan as more evidence of continuity from the policies of the Bush White House.

"As I say, I think he's found it necessary to be more sympathetic to the kinds of things we did," Cheney said. "They've gotten active, for example, with the drone program, using Predator and the Reaper to launch strikes against identified terrorist targets in the various places in the world."

Cheney also weighed in during the interview on the Arizona shooting that left six people dead and injured 13, including Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-Ariz.). Cheney was cautious about what role heated political rhetoric played in the shooting.

"I think the event was caused by a deranged individual. And — that's where we ought to look in terms of trying to assess guilt," Cheney said.

But Cheney also said that it was important not to squelch spirited political debate in the shooting’s aftermath.

"I don't think we should anticipate that we can somehow take a system that was designed for political combat, if you will, between the parties, between ideas, between principles and set that aside. I wouldn't want to do that," Cheney said. "That's the heart and soul of our political system. And that's basically a good thing."

Cheney also confirmed an account from President George W. Bush's recently released memoir, “Decision Points,” that he had offered to resign multiple times during his administration.

"I didn't wanna stand in the way if, in fact, that kind of decision would enhance the president's prospects of winning reelection in 2004 when he was up against John Kerry," Cheney said. "And I thought he ought to have the freedom to change anybody he wanted, including me."

Thanks to Bill Clinton The Chicoms now have a Stealth fighter to attack with...

U.S. intelligence apparently failed to figure out how quickly the Chinese were developing their newest fifth generation J-20 stealth fighter, which U.S. government analysts now say was based on critical U.S. stealth technology transfers that happened while Bill Clinton was president, according to a report from Joseph Farah's G2 Bulletin.

Vice Adm. David Dorsett, director of naval intelligence, said that officials were aware of the development of the J-20, which is supposed to be comparable to the U.S. F-22 stealth fighter, but "the speed at which (the Chinese) are making progress, we underestimated."

The U.S. has halted production of the F-22 and is switching to the more advanced F-35, whose production and cost overruns make any timely operational status problematic.

The Chinese hope to deploy the J-20 by 2017.

Dorsett further indicated that intelligence failed to detect how quickly the Chinese are developing more than a dozen other weapons systems such as new and quieter submarines, long-range cruise missiles and other asymmetric warfare capabilities that differ significantly from the U.S. in terms of military power and resources.

Other military analysts say that the Chinese J-20 is an interim fighter until it can perfect a more robust jet engine that will be in a position to challenge the F-35. Experts say that the J-20 exhibits radar-evading stealth features, an advanced electronically scanned array radar and the ability to fly at supersonic speeds for long distances using less fuel.

With refueling, analysts say that the J-20 gives the Chinese force projection to be able to reach Guam where the U.S. has major military assets.

The reason for the accelerated pace at which the Chinese have developed the stealth J-20 is due to critical U.S. technology transfers through joint ventures with BP America in precursors and resins; Hexcel in pre-impregnated composite fiber technology; and Sikorsky in the manufacture, layup, shaping and know-how.

Don't worry be happy! Nothing to see here! Feds come knocking for home inspections Some citizens outraged, calling probe 'illegal search and invasion'

By Bob Unruh
© 2011 WorldNetDaily

A sanitation district in Pennsylvania has notified homeowners that its representatives will be making personal visits to every structure served by its network of drainpipes because that's what the federal Environmental Protection Agency is demanding.

The letter informs homeowners the inspections will probably take only about 15 minutes, but that all properties "will be considered a source of clear water discharges until an inspection can be conducted."

The effort, according to officials at the Coplay Whitehall Sewer Authority, is to prevent water from sources such as sump pumps or downspouts from being channeled into a water treatment process.

But homeowners are concerned about the mandatory government inspections of t

"I do consider this the equivalent of illegal search and invasion of my home without just cause and [it] establishes a situation where I am guilty and must prove innocence," one homeowner, who asked that his identity be withheld, told WND.

What else is the government trying to find out? Details in "Spychips"

"This inspection is to determine if I am 'discharging' 'clean water' into the sewer system. At no point in the letter does it say exactly what will be looked at, (I guess leaky faucets will be a crime) what else may be being evaluated while my property is being inspected, what is on the 'check list' or report that is being done, and really exactly who is doing the inspection," he said.

Officials with the sanitation district confirmed that they dispatched the letter and said the inspections are being demanded by the EPA. However, officials at the regional EPA office and those at its Washington headquarters declined to respond to WND questions about the process or its goals.

The letter to homeowners said the district was served "with a United States Environmental Protection Agency Administration Order which requires elimination of all Sanitary Sewer Overflows (SSOs) and the elimination of all clear water from entering each respective municipality's sanitary sewer system."

"The Administrative Order carries severe penalties and fines if compliance with the Order is not achieved," the letter said.

"In order to meet the requirements of the EPA Order, the CWSA finds it necessary to conduct door to door inspections of all properties connected to the CWSA system to ensure your property is not contributing clear water discharges to the sanitary sewer systems."

The letter warned that "failure by the CWSA to comply with the EPA order will result in fines and penalties levied against the CWSA which in turn will be passed on to CWSA customers through increased sanitary sewer rates."

The homeowner told WND, "I find myself becoming more and more angry as I process the ramifications of this whole issue. This may be just to look for 'clean water discharge' (what a joke – I wonder if they will look to see if I'm in the shower too long and not standing under the flow of water enough and I better not run the water for a glass of cold water), but this is, like the sexual assaults of the TSA, the beginning of accepting illegal and unwarranted searches.

"It is happening here, but from the letter I get the feeling that it is being done elsewhere with the goal of having the EPA visit every single home/apartment in America to collect who knows what information … and if this is for clean water, what will be next?" the homeowner said.

The sanitation district's own website confirms there apparently are other ways to obtain some information, since it describes how it "utilizes a 'state of the art' television inspection system, reviewing 30 miles of line/year to assure maintenance of an exemplary 'tight' system."

The district website confirms that there are 13,500 properties served by the "approximately 120 miles of line," meaning that the entire system could be reviewed once every four years with the separate system it uses.

It advises that "rainwater, downspouts, basement drains and sump pump discharges" should not be connected or piped into the sanitary district's drains.

Ahh Say it is not so.Cop, unprovoked, shoots Christian on train , I think he was overcome with rage and hatred

By Michael Carl
© 2011 WorldNetDaily

An off-duty Egyptian police officer shot and killed one Coptic Christian and wounded five others in an apparently unprovoked attack aboard a train in Egypt's central Minya province, the third high-profile anti-Christian attack in Egypt in less than three months.

A report from Egypt's Interior Ministry said Amer Ashour Abdel-Zaher boarded the train and was on his way to work when he saw the group of Coptic Christians.

GLORIA Center Director Barry Rubin said the circumstances show that the attack was spontaneous.

"The critical factor is that [the shooter] was on his way to work, and so it wasn't a planned thing. If it was a planned thing he would have done it some evening or sometime. I think he was overcome with rage and hatred," Rubin observed.

"Where the rage and hatred comes from is a different question, but I still don't believe it was a planned attack," he said. "There is something significant in the region, which is growing anti-Christian activity. To some extent this is true from East Timor in Indonesia to Nigeria. But in the Middle East we're seeing it intensify."

Middle East Forum Director Daniel Pipes called the shooter a self-appointed jihadist.

"He is a jihadist and one who doesn't want to have any Christian presence in Egypt. He believes that Egypt should be a completely Muslim country," Pipes said..

"He's taking things into his own hands," he added.

Rubin gave four reasons for why the recent attacks are getting attention.

"First of all, they're in Cairo; second they're coming on a wave of attacks on Christians, after the attack on the church in Iraq," he said.

"Thirdly, Egypt is moving into a transition period with a new government and it could be a period of instability. Fourthly, the Islamists are becoming more aggressive and the governments are becoming more repressive," Rubin said..

"All of these things are coming together in what may be a period of instability in Egypt," he said.

Even with the possibility of increased political instability, Pipes said the Egyptian government has a hand in the persecution, even if only because the regime is refusing to stop it.

"Where it gets sticky is the role of the Mubarak regime in this. Time and again one sees a certain kind of complicity of the regime. He doesn't approve of it, but at the same time he doesn't punish it," Pipes asserted.

"It finds excuses as Mubarak did a couple of weeks ago. There are ties between the murderers and the regime as in the case of this off-duty policeman. Even more importantly, a member of parliament's aide was implicated in the attack a year ago," Pipes said.

"Security forces have been seen on video shouting 'Allahu Akhbar' as they attacked Copts at a disputed church construction site," he said.

Pipes used an unresolved attack from 1999 to illustrate his point.

"Back in 1999 when there was a massacre of 20 Copts at El Kosheh, none of the murderers of the Copts was charged, but only one Muslim was sentenced because he accidentally killed a Muslim," Pipes stated.

"The pattern that strikes me is that the regime is not fully doing its best to prevent the violence. It's a pattern that has happened too often for me not to draw this reluctant conclusion," he said.

Rubin said that Western governments need to embarrass the governments of countries in which anti-Christian attacks have increased.

"They have to discuss this. In some cases it will work and it makes their countries look bad and discourages tourism. It hurts the images of their governments if they allow persecution to go on and even participate in it," Rubin said

"The next thing is to help refugees and to help people who are victimized. You just don't see anything going on in a big scale to help the Iraqi Christians and you don't see anything on a big scale to help the Copts," he said.

"It's totally remarkable by its absence. Churches, and I'm talking about the mainline churches, spend far more time criticizing Israel than they do doing anything for Christians," Rubin stated.

Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper released a statement saying that his government is keeping an eye on persecution of Copts.

"Our government is aware of the challenges Coptic Christians face, and we will remain vigilant to ensure that they continue to feel safe in their communities," he said.

Rubin agreed that the Egyptian government should act to protect its people, Muslim or Christian.

"If the Egyptian government is concerned about any embarrassment, it will put guards in front of the churches. There will still be attacks, but there will also be some security," Rubin asserted.

Pipes said that the U. S. government in the past has had the opposite reaction.

"There was a statement by the U. S. ambassador to Egypt in which she dismissed the violence against Christians and cases of discrimination. She denied that these were connected to the government, so it's hard to see the Obama administration being of any help," Pipes stated.

Rubin gave a list of other countries in which anti-Christian violence is intensifying.

"In Pakistan, things are getting very difficult for Christians. In Iraq, Christians have largely been driven out. In the Gaza Strip, they've been pretty much driven out completely," Rubin detailed.

"It's building and as people read about it, and pick up on it ideologically. It's part of revolutionary Islamism. This is growing and I think it's going to get worse," he said.

"Over the next few years, we're going to see even more attacks on Christians and attempts to force Christians out of entire regions and entire countries," Rubin added. "If you just take Nigeria, and just make a list of attacks on Christians in Nigeria over the last five years, you would be amazed at what you would find on this subject."

Rubin said Palestinian Christians in the West Bank are afraid of the Muslims.

"They are desperate to get out, and they make no secret of the fact that they are scared of the Islamists," Rubin stated.

"If you look at the estimated numbers of Christians in the Middle East countries in 1900, and compare it to today, for specific countries, you would be astonished at the decline," he said. "They're being pushed out and in recent decades it's been made clear they are not welcome."

Guns or groceries, you can't have both Store chain bans customer firearms less than week after Arizona shooting

By Drew Zahn
© 2011 WorldNetDaily

DES MOINES, Iowa – Less than a week after a U.S. congresswoman was critically wounded in a shooting outside an Arizona supermarket, a grocery store chain in Iowa has posted signs on its front windows banning firearms from its stores.

Officials from Dahl's Foods, which operates a dozen major grocery stores in the Des Moines metro area, told WHO-TV that the ban will make stores safer for shoppers and employees, especially after a new state law that makes it easier for Iowans to obtain concealed carry permits has gone into effect.

Many Iowans, however, are opposed to telling customers to leave their guns in the parking lot.

Jim Bricker, a concealed carry permit owner from Stratford, Iowa, told WND that he's shopped at Dahl's a few times, but the ban makes him less likely to go again. Stopping law-abiding gun owners from carrying weapons, he says, will only make the stores more dangerous.

"I think it's a terrible idea," Bricker said of the gun ban, "because if someone has it in their head to go in and rob a place, they're going to do it. If permit holders are forbidden from carrying firearms in that store, [criminals] just have free rein to do anything they want."

On WHO-Radio, Des Moines' largest talk station, news of the ban lit up the telephone lines.

"At first the callers were all ready to storm the produce department, declaring, 'We're never going to shop there again,'" said Jan Mickelson, who hosts a morning talk show on WHO. "They're politicized, they're ready to pounce.

"But this has happened before," Mickelson told WND. "[Another grocery] did this too, then they got feedback and said, 'Oops, we didn't know,' and changed the policy. I think Dahl's will do the same thing eventually … Once [the callers] calmed down, a lot said they'd write a nice letter, go talk to the management types.

"I just hate to see a local company shoot themselves in the foot for no good reason," he continued. "They say it's about safety. It's silly. Iowans don't buy that. They're protecting against the wrong people. … One guy called in and said, 'Hey, if only I'd have known it was that easy. I had a relative who was shot in his retail store. If he'd only known that signs keep people safe, he'd have put up a sign and avoided the whole thing.'

"It's just silly logic," Mickelson concluded, "or non-logic."

On Jan. 1, a new law went into effect in Iowa that limits the reasons a concealed carry permit application can be rejected to violence convictions, mental illness and a few other specific grounds. Prior to the law taking effect, county sheriffs could reject applications for almost any reason.

By Jan. 3, United Press International reports, applications for concealed carry permits in Iowa had skyrocketed, especially in Des Moines' Polk County, where as many people applied in one day as typically apply in a month.

On Jan. 8, however, worries about firearms rose to the national stage when a gunman opened fire on a crowd outside a Safeway supermarket north of Tucson, Ariz., killing six people and critically wounding Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, D-Ariz.

Dahl's Foods refused multiple requests for comment on the story.

Lawmaker's new proposal would hit feds with charges Tells IRS, DEA, BATFE agents to get authorization for arrests from sheriffs

By Bob Unruh
© 2011 WorldNetDaily

The state of Montana, which came up with the idea that the guns made, sold and kept inside its borders simply are exempt from federal regulations and made that its law, now is considering a new weapon that could be used to cancel much of the authority of federal agents over its residents.

A new legislative proposal would declare that the state's local county sheriffs are the pre-eminent law enforcement authority in their jurisdictions, and federal agents such as those working for the Internal Revenue Service, Federal Bureau of Investigation, Drug Enforcement Administration, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, and others, would be required to get permission from them before they could take any action.

Get a copy of the nation's rulebook and find out what it really says: "The Constitution of the United States"

The proposal, Senate Bill 114, is called "An act regulating arrests, searches, and seizures by federal employees; providing that federal employees must obtain the county sheriff's permission to arrest, search, and seize; providing exceptions; providing for prosecution of federal employees violating this act; rejecting federal laws purporting to give federal employees the authority of a county sheriff in this state; and providing an immediate effective date."

Inside that mouthful of provisions is a requirement that federal agents work through and get permission from sheriffs before taking any action to arrest anyone, seize any object or search anywhere. And it includes a promise of consequences if that is not followed:

"An arrest, search, or seizure or attempted arrest, search, or seizure in violation of [section 2] is unlawful, and the persons involved must be prosecuted by the county attorney for kidnapping if an arrest or attempted arrest occurred, for trespass if a search or attempted search occurred, for theft if a seizure or attempted seizure occurred, and for any applicable homicide offense if loss of life occurred. The persons involved must also be charged with any other applicable criminal offense in Title 45," the bill explains.

It's been introduced by state Sen. Greg W. Hinkle, who is from Thompson Falls and represents the state's District 7.

It's been developed with the help of the same people who brought up the plan that Montana can, under the U.S. Constitution, exempt from federal regulation guns that are not in "interstate" commerce.

That plan caught on so well there already are seven other states that have adopted similar laws, and at least three more states, Kentucky, South Carolina and Texas, already have bills pending for this legislation session. Of course it's being challenged in federal court, with a review pending now before the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals. But supporters say they ultimately want a ruling from the U.S. Supreme Court itself.

One of the proponents of the new regulation for federal agents is Gary Marbut, of the Montana Shooting Sports Association. He calls the idea the "sheriffs first" legislation.

At a website called Pro-gun leaders.org, which is run by Marbut, there's an explanation of the plan.

"This 'Sheriffs First' bill would make it a state crime for a federal officer to arrest, search, or seize in the state (Montana in this example) without first getting the advanced, written permission of the elected county sheriff of the county in which the event is to take place. Locally elected sheriffs are accountable to the people and are supposed to be the chief law enforcement officer of the county, bar none. This bill puts teeth into the expectation that federal agents must operate with the approval of the sheriff, or not at all. It also gives the local sheriff tools necessary to protect the people of his county, and their constitutional rights. There are exceptions in the legislation for 'hot pursuit,' U.S. customs and border patrol, corrupt sheriffs, and more."

Officials with the National Sheriffs Association told WND they were unfamiliar with the plan, nor was it being tracked by the National Conference of State Legislatures yet.

But that was the same way Montana's Firearms Freedom Act got started, and it now is law in Montana, Idaho, Wyoming, South Dakota, Utah, Arizona, Alaska and Tennessee. Another 20 states considered their own plans last year but they were not adopted immediately. According to Marbut and the Tenth Amendment Center, South Carolina, Texas and Kentucky are the first states to have begun work on their plans for this session already.

There have been some interesting modifications as that concept has been studied by other states. When Wyoming adopted its Firearms Freedom Act, state lawmakers created a penalty of up to two years in prison and $2,000 in fines for any agent of the U.S. who "enforces or attempts to enforce" federal gun rules on a "personal firearm" in the state.

Marbut said Montana's new proposal about sheriffs simply takes that idea and expands it to protect the rights of the state's residents.

The law states its purposes are to ensure maximum cooperation between federal and local law enforcement, ensure that federal agents get the best local knowledge, and "to prevent misadventure affecting Montana citizens and their rights that results from lack of cooperation or communication between federal employees operating in Montana and local law enforcement."

"A federal employee who is not designated by Montana law as a Montana peace officer may not make an arrest, search, or seizure in this state without the written permission of the sheriff or designee of the sheriff of the county in which the arrest, search, or seizure will occur," the proposal states.

It provides exceptions for arrests that are on federal land or when a sheriff or associate is under investigation, requiring then that the federal agent obtain permission from the state attorney general.

The law also simply provides that, "pursuant to the 10th Amendment to the United States Constitution," any law "purporting to give federal employees the authority of a county sheriff in this state is not recognized by and is specifically rejected by this state and is declared to be invalid in this state."

Marbut explained the process would be simple. A federal agent, for example, asking to arrest someone dealing drugs should get this response from the local sheriff: "Good work. Here's my written permission."

But he said a federal agent wanting to raid someone for making Montana firearms could be met with the sheriff's warning that, "That's protected activity under state law."

Marbut said the law doesn't just cover firearms, but virtually every interaction between federal agents and the state's population.
LAS VEGAS - NOVEMBER 14: Guns for sale are displayed at The Gun Store November 14, 2008 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Store manager Cliff Wilson said he's seen a large spike in sales since Barack Obama was elected president on November 4, with customers citing fears about the president-elect's record on firearms. The election, combined with a slumping economy, has contributed to an overall increase of 25-30 percent in gun sales at the store, Wilson said. (Photo by Ethan Miller/Getty Images)

It's just the latest wave of challenges to the authority of the federal government, which has expanded over the years to even, in the case of Obamacare, contend that not purchasing anything is a form of interstate commerce that can be regulated by Congress.

For example, in Virginia, lawmakers are considering a type of Firearms Freedom Act, only it would cover all products and services in the state, not just firearms.

Then there is Texas, where lawmakers are looking over a proposal that would specify a penalty of jail time for anyone caught trying to enforce the Obamacare provisions in that state.

The battle also continues over the Firearms Freedom Act concept, with the appeal process under way over the law that would "test the power of Congress to regulate everything without limits under the narrow power given to Congress in the Constitution to 'regulate commerce … among the states.'"

Supporters of Montana's law are turning up the heat on the federal government in their fight to push Congress back into the box set up by the "enumerated powers" the U.S. Constitution allocates to Washington.

Do words really turn men into killers?

If we are going to hold Talk Radio and the right wing responsible for the Arizona shooting this week, should we not go further. If words really matter and they can turn someone into a killing machine. If words are code and can reach into a person's most evil side, should not all words be held equally responsible.

At this point should we not be looking at those who kill, and the words that turned them into killing machines?

I would suggest that if you look into a killers past and beliefs you may find a dirty little secret hiding and waiting to kill again.

The answer is the Koran and the Imams that spread the radical messages that they pull from it's pages. Many of these killers over the past 8 years have been normal for the most part, and then after going to a mosque for a few month's, all of a sudden they are turned into killers. Never have I heard that the spoken word inside the mosque's and Muslim schools are turning out killers.. Men and woman who look to make a point by killing innocent American Citizens. If words matter America then they matter and all who speak them should be held accountable.

If Rush or any talk radio host was heard saying what is spoken openly in Mosque's around America they would be pulled off the air in a minute. The only listeners they would have left would be the crazies..

Now what a second, who is left listening to the Imams??? I hope just the crazies.

Look who else put 'bull's-eye' on Giffords Leftist blog points finger at Palin, while scrubbing 'dead to me' rant

Shortly after news broke of the attempted murder of Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, D-Ariz., the left-leaning blog Daily Kos was swift to scrub its post from a Tucson writer explaining how the congresswoman was now "dead to me."

One of the blog's diary writers, identifying himself as BoyBlue, had written a post only two days before the shooting titled "My CongressWOMAN voted against Nancy Pelosi! And is now DEAD to me!"

"I am from the Tucson area and live in Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords' district," BoyBlue wrote. "Today, just a little while ago, I saw on Andrea Mitchell Reports that Giffords voted against Nancy Pelosi as our minority leader. … Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords is dead to me now."

Several news sources and commentators have sought to analyze yesterday's mass shooting in Tucson that left six dead and Giffords in critical condition, while many blogs and columns have blamed the nation's heated political "rhetoric" for inspiring people toward violence against their elected officials.

Understand what's happening to America's culture and what you can do to fight it with "How Evil Works," autographed, from the WND Superstore.

Sarah Palin in particular has been singled out for criticism by CBS News, the Guardian and others for publishing a "target map" on her website using images of gun sights to identify the districts of 20 House Democrats up for election in last year's mid-terms, including Giffords.

Daily Kos joined in the criticism, and the blog's founder, Markos Moulitsas, tweeted early yesterday, "Mission accomplished, Sarah Palin," with a link to Palin's map.

Moulitsas, however, had also posted what he called a "target list" identifying Giffords. In a 2008 Daily Kos post, Moulitsas listed Giffords as one of dozens of representatives with "a bull's-eye on their district" for being a "bad apple" Democrat.

The "dead to me" diary has since been deleted from Daily Kos, while Moulitsas' "target list" is still viewable.

Anti-Muslim hysteria? Gaffney: 'The concerns I and others have raised still stand'

Frank Gaffney

WASHINGTON – Sometimes it's easier to shoot the messenger.

Former Reagan administration defense official Frank Gaffney is still waiting for somebody to rebut his allegations that the Muslim Brotherhood, which seeks to impose shariah law around the world, is running an influence operation in Washington, D.C. Instead, he's being called an anti-Muslim bigot.

After WND reported yesterday that Gaffney accused Muslim Republican Suhail Khan of "infiltrating" the Conservative Political Action Conference on behalf of radical Islamists, Khan and CPAC director Lisa DePasquale fired back with personal attacks on Gaffney in Salon and Politico.

In an article titled "CPAC also anti-Sharia," Politico's Ben Smith quoted Khan:

"'It's because I’m Muslim. It's as simple as that,' said Khan. 'There's no truth to it. It's the latest iteration of anti-Muslim hysteria.'

'His own diminished capacity – not only in CPAC, but in Washington politics in general – has really marginalized him. He's looking for conspiracy,' said Khan about Gaffney. 'It's anti-Muslim hysteria. This is not new. This is something that we'll deal with. The Shariah canard is the latest iteration of that.'"

Khan delivered similar remarks through Salon's Justin Elliott. In a piece titled "CPAC infiltrated by radical gays, radical Muslims," Elliott wrote:

"According to WND, Khan is linked to radicals because his 'father, Mahboob Khan, leader of a large mosque in Santa Clara, Calif., had allowed Osama bin Laden's No. 2 man, Dr. Ayman al-Zawahiri, to raise money there.'

"In an interview with Salon today, Khan says this is nonsense. 'Frank knows that many if not most of the things that he's asserting are not true. He knows that I'm not a member of the Muslim Brotherhood. He knows that my parents are not involved in anything like that. My dad died 11 years ago. He was a high-tech engineer in the Bay Area.'

Suhail Khan

"He believes Gaffney is motivated by three things: 'It's raising money -- the guy raises a ton of money. Secondly, there is no doubt there is ... political hay to be made on this. This gives him relevance that otherwise he doesn't have. Finally, I think there is just good old-fashioned bigotry.'"

"It's interesting to see the outlets he's chosen, Salon and Politico," said Gaffney, president of the Center for Security Policy.

"These are part of a series of quotes from interviews that Suhail has been giving people on the left, each of which is more ad hominem than the last, none of which addressees the concerns we've raised in any substantive way. I guess it's sort of par for the course and is consistent with the Muslim Brotherhood playbook to try to suppress information about the kinds of activities that promote shariah through the stealth jihad. All I can say is the substance of the concerns that I and others on Team B have raised in 'Shariah: The Threat to America' stand, and if anything are only made more compelling by the kind of response we've seen today."

CPAC director Lisa DePasquale sent a statement defending the conference to Politico's Ben Smith.

"'The fact is that we will have a panel tentatively titled "Defining and Debating Shariah in America" at this year's CPAC moderated by Cliff May of the Foundation for Defense of Democracies,' emailed the American Conservative Union's CPAC director Lisa DePasquale.

"She also expressed puzzlement at the attack on the head of a conservative Muslim group, Muslims for America, by the Reagan administration official Frank Gaffney.

"'If what Frank says were true then, Suhail Khan is much more powerful than anyone ever imagined!' she emailed."

Gaffney responded with praise for May, a former New York Times foreign correspondent.

"Cliff May is a good man, a good friend of mine and I hope he'll do a thorough job of illuminating the threat of shariah to the United States.

"On Lisa's point, I hope that she and others at the ACU will read the Team B analysis. If she would do so she would have an appreciation for how influence operations work and in particular how this one is working. It's not about being powerful, it's about being skillful in pursuing the objectives of the Muslim Brotherhood that individuals like Suhail Khan have engaged in for decades now."

CPAC officials did not respond to a request for comment. Khan has not answered WND's request for a response to specific allegations by Gaffney and others.
